Hello, I’m Eric. I’m a software engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I’ve been in a variety of software development roles over the last 20 years, and I’m currently focusing on cloud-oriented development, particularly with AWS and Java.

I completed the AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification in March of 2022, the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification in December of 2021, and the Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 11 Developer certification in June of 2020.

I’ve always enjoyed working with the Java language and ecosystem and, when not focused on AWS or Java certifications, I’ve been spending my personal learning time diving into Spring Boot and Spring Framework. To apply some of this learning, I developed a demo website with Spring MVC that you can read more about in my Projects section.

Since 2018, while completing my Android Developer Nanodegree, my day job has focused on Android and back-end Web API development. Prior to that I was a successful I.T. Project Manager for six years, with an emphasis on software development and system integration projects. I’ve also done a lot of web application development, primarily ASP.NET with C# and SQL Server.
